Each ACC member must prioritize its chemicals according to risks, specifically designating high priority chemicals, using
considerations such as uses, exposures, toxicity, production volumes and other relevant factors. Once this risk
prioritization is performed, an appropriately detailed product stewardship summary can be created to pass along
critical information about the chemical to assure its safe use and handling through the supply chain. A product
stewardship summary is a document that contains information about a chemical such as chemical identity (or
category description); the uses, applications, functions; physical/chemical properties; health effects; etc.
ACC has created a portal to access the product stewardship summaries currently available for each company on
this page. ACC’s goal is for each company to have publicly available summaries for all their high priority
chemicals by 2012.
